Q: Isn't all chrome plating the same?
A: NO! There are several distinctively different types of chrome plating.

Decorative chrome which is primarily used for its cosmetic effect is usually applied over multiple layers of other electrodeposited metals, and is usually deposited .0005-inch or less.

Industrial / Engineering / Hard Chrome is used to provide a working surface that imparts one or more of the following characteristics: Hardness, Smoothness, Resistance to wear, Abrasion, Corrosion, Wetting or Galling; and the ability to take an exceedingly high polish.

Hard chrome is usually deposited directly onto the base metal without an intermediate laminar layer.

ACME actively participates in the US EPA's Sector Strategies Program which as been an outgrowth of the industry'swork with EPA under the Common Sense Initiative (CSI) and Strategic Goals Program. As an industryparticipant sector strategiesidentifier sector-specific trends in air emissions, water discharges,waste generation, recycling, chemical releases and energy efficiencies. Acme also is a member of the recently formulated National Association for Surface Finishing (NASF) which is the recent re-organization of the American Electroplaters and Surface Finishing (AESF), National Association of Metal Finishers (NAMF), and the Metal Finishing Suppliers Association (MFSA).
