Electroless Nickel Plating
- Key Benefits
- • Able to hold extremely close tolerances
• Economic alternative method of plating
• Excellent corrosion resistance
• Excellent coating uniformity
• Increased hardness and lubricity
• Wear resistance to protect against galling
• Nonmagnetic properties of high-phosphorus nickel alloy
- Capabilities
- In contrast, to electroplating, Electroless Nickel (EN) plating does not require electrical current. Since all surfaces wetted by the electroless nickel solution are plated, the deposit thickness is uniform across the entire part. This unique property of electroless nickel plating makes it possible to coat internal surfaces of pipes, valves, and other parts. This uniformity of deposit thickness is difficult, if not impossible, to achieve by any other method of plating.
- Tolerance capabilities when using Electroless Nickel are virtually limitless. The various finishes of Electroless Nickel range from dull matte to a bright reflective or anywhere in between. The hardness, corrosion and wear resistance can also be custom-fitted to each specific customer's needs, using ACME's A.E.D. 2010 coating. The thickness of these deposits can be accurately controlled to within .0001" to meet any Military, AMS or ASTM specifications for Electroless Nickel supplied to ACME.
